Our Wine List

Making complex wines of international calibre that are consistent in style and quality from year to year is the foundation of Blue Mountain. The grapes that are harvested for Blue Mountain wines are sourced solely from its own vineyard. A philosophy of sustainable land management ensures limited chemical input. Using classic varietals which originate in France in growing conditions like our own, we limit our crop yields resulting in higher concentration of the fruit. In the winery, winemakers Matt and Ian Mavety combine new technology with traditional techniques. The wines are handled minimally to ensure that the delicacy and intensity of flavours cultivated in the vineyard are expressed in the wine. French oak barrels are used in the cellar to soften and add complexity. All of these factors combine to result in a style and finesse fitting to the varietals.

Sparkling wine labelSparkling Wines
Blue Mountain sparkling wines are méthode traditionnelle, meaning the traditional techniques for making French Champagne are employed faithfully. Finished dry, these wines are aged sur-lie for two-and-a-half to five years prior to being disgorged. They then receive an additional 6 to 9 months of aging preceding release.

The grapes that are destined for Blue Mountain white wines are hand picked and gently pressed in whole clusters with stems intact. This more laborious and gentler process means they never see the crusher-destemmer, thus preserving quality and delicacy.  These wines, which are 100% varietal, are blended from a combination of tank-fermented and French Oak barrel-fermented lots to produce richness and complexity without compromising the bright fruit character.

2006 Pinot Blanc $17.95 Currently Available
Apricot and pear are complemented by butterscotch on the nose and palate. A full mouth feel leads into a long, spicy finish.

2006 Chardonnay $20.90 Currently Available
Complex flavours of citrus and toast with a fresh yet rich lemony character, and anise notes on the finish.

2006 Pinot Gris $20.90 Currently Available
Sweet fruit and orange peel on the nose and palate are followed by a rich finish.

After the Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir grapes are crushed and destemmed, they are transferred to small open top fermentation tanks. The reds are held on their skins during and briefly following the fermentation to add colour, depth and texture to the wine. The wine is transferred into French Oak barrels where it is allowed to age until bottling.

2006 Gamay Noir $19.95 Sold Out
Juicy raspberry flavours, notes of blackcurrant and good acidity are complemented by a long, spicy finish in this fruit-forward wine.

2006 Pinot Noir $24.90 Currently Available
Vanilla and toast complement cassis and black cherry flavours, and spicy, velvety tannins fill out the 2006 Pinot Noir.
