The Pinot Noir program

Our Pinot Noir program consists of two cuvée - the Estate and Reserve - as well as three single-vineyard releases. All the wines, described below, are crafted to reflect their unique origins within the Blue Mountain Estate.

THE PINOT NOIR PROGRAM

2019 ESTATE CUVÉE PINOT NOIR

$35 / bottle   |   $420 / Case of 12

A vivid representation of Blue Mountain’s fruit vibrance, the Estate Cuvée Pinot Noir is confident in its youth and vigour. Its vines rise highest in altitude on our Estate, setting the precedent for a terroir-based personality to shine through this purposeful Pinot Noir.

2019 RESERVE CUVÉE PINOT NOIR

$45 / bottle   |   $270 / Case of 6

A harmonious blend of Blue Mountain’s three key Pinot Noir vineyards, the Reserve Cuvée champions both exceptional fruit quality, and masterful blending. Selecting fruit from over 26-year-old vines, the personalities of Blue Mountain converge in the glass to deliver an altogether unique, cellar-worthy Pinot Noir that can only be described as "Blue Mountain".

SINGLE VINEYARD  |  BLOCK 23
2019 RIVER FLOW PINOT NOIR

$55 / bottle   |   $330 / Case of 6

Planted in 1994, Block 23 rises majestically from the earth upon high ground from sandy loam soil. The vineyard’s almost Northern exposure, combined with gentle, East-facing slopes expose the vines to cool morning sun, allowing the vines to develop gently and undisturbed, between sun and soil crafting Blue Mountain’s River Flow. This is Pinot as nature intended - a refined, elegant, and composed Pinot Noir.

SINGLE VINEYARD  |  BLOCK 09
2019 WILD TERRAIN PINOT NOIR

$55 / bottle   |   $330 / Case of 6

Wild Terrain Pinot Noir, also known as the untamed sibling, represents the most extreme and varied topography of the Pinot Noir blocks from steep slopes exposed to the wind, to sun-drenched, flatter plains over loamy sand. Significant South-Western exposure reveals a wild complexity, at once handsome and delicately pretty, savoury, and boldly free.

SINGLE VINEYARD   |  BLOCK 14
2019 GRAVEL FORCE PINOT NOIR

$55 / bottle   |   $330 / Case of 6

A more Westerly and Southern exposure creates a warm site for the 30-year-old vines, the basis for Gravel Force– an overt, brooding, and textural wine with a more masculine structure, and strength.  Combining a base of rocky gravel, loamy sand, and more clay than other Blue Mountain Pinot Noir vineyards, Block 14 encourages strong natural growth and vigour.

YouTube - PINOT NOIR PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

SINGLE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR

The idea of single block wines at Blue Mountain is not new. We have been tasting the wines in this manner for many years as we blended them into our estate and reserve cuvées, but in recent years our winemaking process, the business, and the vines themselves have all matured to a point where sharing these single vineyard wines with you is possible.

By focusing on what makes each single vineyard block unique, these wines offer a different taste of what you have come to know as Blue Mountain. Each wine is a unique expression of its own site within our estate, yet distinctly a Blue Mountain Pinot Noir.

2021 marks Blue Mountain’s 30th anniversary, and we are celebrating throughout the year!  We hope you will share some of your recent and past images of times when you have enjoyed Blue Mountain wines using the hashtag #bluemountain30.  Everyone who posts will automatically be entered in a random monthly draw for a gift card to a local restaurant.  All winners will be contacted personally by a team member at Blue Mountain.
